Good Day, Lykkers! Liquid eyeliner is honestly one of those small makeup steps that can completely change my mood. Some days I want it soft and easy, other days I want it sharp enough to make my eyes feel more awake and intentional.

I’ve been rotating between these two budget-friendly picks, and both bring very different vibes to my makeup days.

1. Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner ($4)

This one feels like my “quick and reliable” eyeliner. The formula is lightweight, and the brush tip makes it easy for me to glide along the lash line without too much effort. It’s the kind of product I reach for when I don’t want to overthink my makeup but still want definition. What I like most is how beginner-friendly it feels.

I don’t have to go slow and careful like I do with some other liners. It gives a clean line without dragging, and once it sets, it stays put pretty well for everyday wear. On my softer makeup days, this is usually what I go for because it doesn’t feel too intense—it just quietly frames the eyes in a simple, neat way.

2. NYX Vivid Matte Liquid Eyeliner ($9)

This one is a bit more bold and expressive. The colour payoff is stronger, and it dries down into a more intense matte finish that immediately makes the eye look sharper. I reach for this when I want my eyeliner to be more noticeable—like when I’m doing a slightly more dressed-up look or going for a stronger eye moment.

It feels more “structured” compared to the Essence one, like it helps define the shape of my eyes in a clearer way. The formula also feels a bit more precise, so I take my time with it. It’s not something I rush through, but the end result always looks more polished and intentional.

Between these two, I don’t really pick a favourite—they just serve different moods. One keeps things easy and natural, the other brings more attitude and structure. And honestly, having both in my makeup bag just makes getting ready feel more flexible, like I can decide who I want to be that day without much effort.
