Corn is a very common food that can be cooked in a variety of ways, steamed, boiled, or grilled.

Grilling corn on a charcoal grill gives it a distinctive sweet flavour. Learn about the 3 ways to grill corn.

Method 1: Grilling Corn in the Husk

1. Pick good corn. It is best to look for the freshest, ripe corn at the market. The leaves should be bright green, the stalks should be pale yellow, and the ends of the whiskers should be light brown.

2. Remove the outermost two or three layers of leaves and soak the corn (you can skip this step, depending on your personal preference).

You can completely submerge the corn in cold water for about 15 minutes, then shake off the excess water.

3. Place directly on the preheated grill. If using a charcoal grill, heat the charcoal until it is gray. Preheat to about 350 - 400°F and grill for about 15 - 20 minutes, turning the corn every 4 minutes.

4. Remove the corn from the grill using food clips or with grilling gloves. Then peel the leaves off the top.

Let it sit for a while before eating, the freshly grilled corn is very hot.

Corn that comes out of the oven this way is sweet and juicy. If you didn't add seasoning ahead of time, serve with butter, salt, and pepper. If any dust gets into the corn, rinse it off in warm water.

Method 2: In Aluminum Foil

1. Choose the same ingredients as in method 1, remove the husk and whiskers from the corn, without soaking it in water, and brush it directly with butter or olive oil on the kernels, with a little salt and pepper.

2. Wrap the corn on the cob in tinfoil and twist the ends tightly.

Grill on a preheated charcoal grill, turning every 3 minutes until the corn is fully cooked, about 15 minutes.

Method 3: Direct Baking

1. Remove the husks from the corn and grill directly over the coals until golden brown spots appear.

2. Place the corn on the holding grid and watch the corn closely, turning it over occasionally to prevent burning.

3. When there are many light brown spots, the corn is almost ripe, but most of the kernels are still yellow.

This method will not be as juicy as the first two methods, and there is a chance that it will roast. But if done correctly, the kernels will get a lot of flavor from the grill and the caramelization turns into a smoky sweetness, while this is the quickest way to grill corn.
